Palm Oasis Maspalomas: A Self-Catering Base for Families

If Servatur Don Miguel is built around adults who want nightlife within walking distance, Palm Oasis Maspalomas is built around the opposite kind of holiday entirely: families who want space, a proper kitchen, and enough on-site entertainment that nobody in the group needs to be shuttled off the property to stay occupied. It's a 234-apartment aparthotel set in Sonnenland, a quieter, more residential pocket of Maspalomas a short drive inland from the beach, and its whole design logic follows from that self-catering, family-first premise.

What you're actually staying in
Every unit here is an apartment rather than a hotel room, ranging from studios up to two-bedroom apartments and suites — the largest sleeping up to six. Each has a proper open-plan kitchen with a full-size fridge, ceramic hob and cookware, a separate living-dining area with a sofa bed, a furnished terrace or balcony, satellite TV and free Wi-Fi, and a hydromassage bath in the bathroom (some of the larger suites add a spa bath and a second bathroom). The higher-floor suites go a step further, with a private hot tub and sauna on the terrace. Air conditioning is only provided in June, July, August and September — worth knowing if you're travelling outside peak summer and expect it year-round, since a lot of Gran Canaria's aparthotels follow this same seasonal pattern rather than running AC constantly.

Built for a full day without leaving
The two outdoor pools — heated through the cooler months — come with a waterslide and their own hot tubs, and the surrounding tropical gardens do a lot of work making the whole complex feel more like a resort than a straightforward apartment block. Beyond the pools, there's a kids' club, tennis courts, mini golf, spa and massage services, and regular evening entertainment — enough of a spread that families with a mix of ages, from toddlers to teenagers to grandparents, can all find something without a car being involved.

That said, this is Sonnenland, not beachfront — the sea itself is a few kilometres away. Palm Oasis covers that gap with a free shuttle bus to the beach, which review after review flags as genuinely useful and genuinely free, rather than a nominal perk that turns out to cost extra once you're there.

Right next door to two of the south's biggest attractions

The location has one specific advantage worth calling out directly: Aqualand Maspalomas is roughly two minutes' drive away, and Holiday World Maspalomas — the south's amusement park, with fairground rides, go-karts and family restaurants — is around a 12–13 minute walk. If you've read our Aqualand guide and are planning a water park day as part of your trip, staying here effectively puts you next door to it, which is a real advantage compared with resorts further along the coast where a water park day means a proper drive each way. Maspalomas Golf Course and a minigolf course are also both a short drive from the property, and the Yumbo Shopping Center is close enough for an evening out if you want it, without being on top of it the way Servatur Don Miguel's location is.

What do the guests say
Feedback on Palm Oasis is consistently strong — one major booking platform has it rated 9.4 out of 10, and recurring themes across reviews are remarkably consistent: spacious apartments, comfortable beds, and staff — housekeeping in particular — who get repeatedly praised by name in reviews, which is a genuinely good sign for a property this size. Families who've stayed with larger groups across multiple apartments specifically mention how well the layout worked for that kind of booking.

The complaints that do surface are minor and occasional rather than systemic: the odd mention of unreliable Wi-Fi, and at least one guest who felt they'd have been just as happy in a cheaper apartment category — a fair reminder that the suites with hot tubs and saunas are a genuine upgrade in price as well as amenities, and the standard studios and one-bedroom apartments already cover most of what makes this property work.

Getting there
The address is Albert Einstein, s/n, Parcela 34, Maspalomas — inland in Sonnenland rather than on the coast road. The Las Azaleas bus stop is close by (around 350 metres), and the free beach shuttle covers the trip to the sand without needing your own transport. If you are driving or renting a car for the week, the property's inland position actually works in your favour for day trips — you're closer to the GC-1 motorway link than most seafront hotels, which makes excursions to places like El Tablero, Palmitos Park or further along the coast slightly more convenient than starting from directly on the beach.

Is it for you?
This is a strong pick for families who want to self-cater at least some meals, who value pool time and on-site activities over a beachfront address, and who are planning to spend at least one day at Aqualand or Holiday World anyway. It's a noticeably weaker fit if being able to walk to the beach or the main nightlife strip matters to you — for that, a resort further along the coast, or somewhere like Servatur Don Miguel in Playa del Inglés, suits that particular priority better.

Room categories, air conditioning availability and amenities can vary by booking channel and season.
